Western University faculty vote in favour of strike

The union representing faculty at Western University has voted 94 per cent in favour of strike action if planned talks involving a conciliator fail to reach a negotiated deal. The University of Western Ontario Faculty Association (UWOFA) represents about 1,500 faculty members and 50 librarians and archivists at Western. The main issue in the negotiations, according to UWOFA, is job security, particularly for faculty members working on contract.
